Advanced grouping: Second and third-level grouping
This feature enhances the organizational capabilities of your data by introducing the option to create more complex and hierarchical groupings within your Retable tables. With advanced grouping, you can now go beyond basic single-level grouping to implement second and third-level groupings.
This means you can split up a main group of data into smaller parts, making it easier to look at the details. For example, if you want to organize your data by where it comes from, then by which department it's related to, and lastly by the status of the project or any other way with multiple steps, advanced grouping lets you do this in a detailed way, giving you a full view of your data.
Let's see how it works:
- Click on grouping in your toolbar and choose which column you want to group your data by. For example, if you have a task tracking table, it might have columns like task name, status, priority, and assignee. First, you can group by the "Assignee" column.
- Then, from the grouping panel, you can add a second grouping and make this grouping according to the "Priority" column. After you've done your second grouping, you will see that the data in your table is first grouped according to the "Assignee" column, and within each group, it is further grouped by "Priority."
- If you want, you can add a third group to further subdivide your groups based on the "Status" column. You can create up to three levels of grouping.
Group based summaries
With this development, you can now see summary data for each group created in your Retable grid view.
Let's see how it works:
- Open your Retable project
- Navigate to a grid view
- Apply grouping from the toolbar
- Click on the column you want to see summary information for
- After clicking on the column, you will see that a summary field is accessible at the beginning of each group for the related column
- Choose what you want your column's summary to be based on (for example: total, average, min, max, etc.)
That's all! Now, you will see that this summary is calculated separately for all your groups.
Advanced formula editor
We've enhanced our formula column type, making it significantly more user-friendly and efficient for you to use your Retable formula column. With the introduction of our advanced formula editor, writing formulas is now more straightforward. Additionally, you'll benefit from a range of sample formulas we've curated to help you get started and to inspire your own formula creations.
Ability to change ChatGPT model
Now, switching between ChatGPT models in your GPT column type is simple. Whether you prefer to use ChatGPT 4 or ChatGPT 3.5, you can effortlessly choose and work with either version.
Address search in the geolocation column
You can now search for complete addresses in your geolocation column and automatically pin them on your map view. This new feature allows you to enter full addresses directly, making it more convenient than the previous method, which only supported searches by longitude, latitude, country, and city.
.mov file format compatibility for attachment column
In an exciting update to Retable's capabilities, we are pleased to announce an expansion in the types of files you can manage within your tables. Specifically, the attachment column type in Retable tables has been upgraded to support files in the .mov format. This enhancement allows for a broader range of multimedia content to be directly uploaded and stored within your project tables, facilitating easier access and organization of video files.
Bulk hide/unhide functionality for columns
This feature allows you to perform bulk hide or unhide operations for columns directly from the "Columns" section. With this update, you can now efficiently manage the visibility of multiple columns at once, streamlining the process of customizing table views according to specific needs or preferences.
Let's see how it works:
- Click on the "columns" from the toolbar
- Go to the bottom of the panel and click on the "show columns" or "hide columns" options based on your needs.
Ability to paste images
Now, you can directly paste images from various sources into your image column without the need to upload them individually. This feature simplifies adding images to the column, eliminating the hassle of uploading each one separately.
Shortcut to open projects in new tab
Now, if you click CMD/CTRL while clicking on any project on your dashboard, your project will be opened in a new tab.
Shortcuts helper
There's now an easy way to access shortcuts that you can use in your Retable tables. By clicking on the user icon located at the top right of your project and selecting the "Shortcuts" option from the menu that appears, you can easily learn the commands for the shortcuts you need while continuing to work on your project. This feature enhances your productivity by providing quick access to helpful shortcuts, streamlining your workflow.
Setting Sunday as the first day of your calendar
This new feature allows you to configure your calendar columns and views in Retable to start the week on Sunday. By adjusting the settings in the "Settings" section of your Account settings, you can set Sunday as the default first day of the week across all your calendar displays. Once this option is selected, every calendar within Retable, whether in column view or full calendar view, will align with this preference, ensuring consistency in how your week is organized right from the start.
Enhancement for emailing image and attachment column data
This update addresses the functionality of the "Send as email" feature. With the implementation of this feature, whenever data from the Image and Attachment columns is included in emails, it will now arrive as downloadable files. So, recipients can easily access and download the images or attachments directly from the email, without any need to access your Retable tables. This improvement is particularly beneficial for efficiently sharing important documents, images, or other attachments.
Select the time format in the calendar column type
With the new update to the calendar column type, activating the "include time" option now allows you to select your preferred time format. Retable gives you the choice between the 12-hour format, which includes AM and PM options, and the 24-hour format.
Improvements in chat and comment areas
We've enhanced the design of our chat and comment sections for a better user experience. Additionally, you now have the flexibility to edit and delete your comments on rows. Emojis are also now supported, allowing you to express yourself more vividly in your comments.
TOFIXED formulation
We've introduced the TOFIXED(number, fractionDigits) formula to our collection. This formula formats a number to display a specified number of digits after the decimal point.
For example: TOFIXED(15.1289, 2) will result in 15.12, and TOFIXED(15, 3) will display as 15.000, allowing you to customize the precision of numeric values as needed.
Integrating public API with automations
We've enhanced our automation and Public API capabilities to now activate in response to data modifications made through the public API. This means that if you have an automation in your project it'll work seamlessly when you make a change in your data via public API
For example; When a new row is inserted into your table using the API, and you have an automation set up in your project to trigger "when a row is added," this automation will execute seamlessly.
At present, this integration supports "Delete, Update, and Insert" operations, enabling automation to respond dynamically to these changes. However, it's important to note that Scheduled and Form response-triggered automations are exceptions and do not activate through API changes.
Improvement in public API return type to support dictionary format
The return type of the Public API now includes `cell_value` in a key-value (dictionary) format. This enhancement facilitates direct access to data without the need to create loops for matching titles and row values. It simplifies data retrieval by allowing you to directly access the information based on the title and row value pairing. Furthermore, operations currently performed using column IDs will soon be extendable to titles as well.
Option to omit decimal separator in currency column type
This feature introduces the flexibility to customize how currency values are displayed within the currency column type. You now have the option to omit the decimal separator for currencies, allowing for a presentation of currency values as raw values.
Let's see how it works:
- Create a currency column
- From the customize column panel you can set your preset settings as "Show digit separator" (ex: $11,23) or "Show raw value" (ex: $1111).
Ability to search in column, group, filter and sort sections
Now, in the column, group, filter, and sort sections located in your toolbar, you can easily search to find the columns you wish to work with. This new feature enhances usability by allowing you to quickly locate and select the specific columns you need for various operations, streamlining your workflow and making data management more efficient.
Adding a search function for the "select column" type in the row detail pop-up and panel
Previously, in your Retable table, you could easily search among select options within the select column type. Now, you can do the same in the row detail pop-up and the row detail panel located on the right side of your table. This enhancement makes it even easier to navigate and manage your data by allowing for quick searches within select options directly from the row detail view.
Addon management panel
Now, you can access the add-ons you've applied to your workspaces and projects from the add-on management panel located on your Retable dashboard. This allows you to manage the add-ons you've purchased from a single location, and easily apply new add-ons to the workspaces or projects of your choice through this panel.
Let's see how it works!
- Go to your Retable dashboard
- Click on the "add-ons" icon located in the left panel
- Once you click, the add-on management panel will open
- After selecting the add-on you wish to purchase, you can choose which workspace or project you want to apply this add-on to
- Additionally, you can manage the add-ons you've purchased by clicking on the "Purchased add-ons" tab located in this panel.
Add-on purchasing authorization for organization members
Previously, only organization admins could purchase add-ons for, but with this development now organization members can also access add-ons and purchase them as they wish.
